American Fire is pleased to announce the firm was part of the winning team on a project that earned an ENR Global Best Project Award in the Government Building Category for 2017. The project receiving the award was the new U.S. Embassy Compound in Paramaribo, Suriname, South America. American Fire provided fire sprinkler and fire pump contracting services for BLHI Construction for this compound which now includes an environmentally sustainable building which conserves energy and water and is expected to earn LEED Silver certification. American Fire provides similar fire protection services to embassy projects around the world.
In addition to the remote location, the project team had to persevere despite many challenges including weather. Suriname is located in the Amazon rain forest where monthly rainfall comes in at 16 inches per month for five months of the year (April to August).
The ENR Global Best Projects Awards were presented on October 23, 2017 in New York City honoring outstanding design and construction projects all over the world. You can read more about this project and all the ENR Global Best Project Awards Winners at http://www.globalbestprojects.com/index.php.
